Best of 2010: Scrapbook Layouts

My 10 12 Favorite Scrapbook Layouts of 2010

If the Crown Fits:  This is the first project that I used any "stitching" or "doodling."  It's still one of my favorites!

Sprinkled with Fun:  I love the patterns and colors in this layout.  I used little seed beads for the "sprinkles."

1st Dollhouse:  I think red, green and sky blue are such cheerful fun colors.  The little house is from Sugar and Spice - such a great cartridge for baby/toddler layouts.

Owl Love U Always:  This is a really simple layout, but I love the combination of colors and patterned paper.  That paper is from my favorite DCWV stack - Flower Shower.

Winter Wonderland:  This one just makes me happy.  Winter Frolic is such a great all around winter/holiday themed cartridge.

Lots of Shopping:  This layout was for one of Emma's Throwback Thursday Challenges.  I love all the "girly" images from Paisley.

Play:  I think this may be my favorite layout of all time.  It took a long time because I inked and doodled on EVERY cut, but it was totally worth it.  If you're interested, I filmed a video for this one that shows how I put a scrapbook layout together from start to finish.

Celebrate:  This is my most popular layout...mostly because super sweet Angelica from Peachy Keen Stamps featured this layout on their Facebook page.

Autumn Days:  I love the little squirrel peeking out of the tree.  Create a Critter really turned out to be one of my favorite cartridges of 2010.

You're Tweet:  This was the very first project that I made with my Imagine.  I am still in love with the fact that the Imagine sizes the patterns based on what sized image you are cutting out.

Happy Birthday:  I made this layout for Momo's birthday blog hop.  I love the little pennants.  This layout is even cuter in person.

Seasons Greetings:  This is a super simple layout, but it is a great example of how I tend to base my color schemes on my pictures.  Sky blue, and red gingham stocking = the same colors/patterns repeated in my layout.  (I may be slightly crazy...I'm ok with that.)  ;)

I had a MUCH harder time narrowing down my list of scrapbook layouts.  I started out just picking pictures of the layouts without counting and I ended up with 19.  I thought 19 was a little excessive, so I managed to narrow it down to 12.  I've only been scrapbooking since April, but I LOVE it.  Expect LOTS of layouts in 2011...my list keeps getting longer and longer.

Happy New Year!  I hope all of you have a fun and SAFE holiday!

Make sure to stop by tomorrow for Joanna's "Let's Celebrate!" Blog Hop!  There are sooo many talented bloggers participating!  (I'm sure there will be some blog candy along the way too!)

Best of 2010: Cards

My 10 Favorite Cards from 2010

Hawaiian Wedding Cake: This was one of my very first posts on my blog and it was featured in the My Pink Stamper gallery.  I was pretty excited!

Party Princess:  It is well documented that I LOVE Once Upon a Princess, so it's not really a surprise that this one made into my top 10 favorite cards.  Still love her.

Rainy Day:  Another Once Upon a Princess card...

Cat's Meow:  This was my very first project using Scrappy Moms Stamps!  I was so excited to be asked to be a guest designer and even more excited when that turned into a Design Team spot.  I am soo lucky to to be a party of such an amazing group of ladies!

Paper Doll Dress-Up Card Set:  This is another project from the very first Scrappy Moms sneak peek week!  It's also my first paper-crafting video.

Goody Goody Gumdrops: Super simple card, but it just worked out perfectly!

You're out of this World:  I don't do a lot of gender neutral cards, but I love the bright fun colors of this one.  It's also one of my favorite shaped-cards that I've made!

What a cute Pair: This one just makes me happy!

There's a Scare in the Air:  I actually liked this card so much...I never sent it to anyone.  (That's kind of bad, huh?)

Sweet Birthday Wishes:  This card is doubly special to me...I made it for Momo's birthday (hence, the bright cheerful colors) and it also won the Peachy Keen Challenge!

That was fun!  Don't forget that because I am slightly obsessive compulsive and a Virgo - I have ALL my cards organized by cartridge and/or Scrappy Moms sentiment under the CARDS tab!

Check back tomorrow for my 10 favorite Scrapbook Layouts!  Also...Joanna from Scrap-Making is celebrating her blog's 1 year anniversary and her birthday ALL week long with LOTS of fun giveaways.    Joanna is also hosting her very first blog-hop on Saturday - "Let's Celebrate!"

Happy Thursday!

Last Sneak Peek: "Merci"

Happy Christmas Eve!!!  I can't believe that Christmas will be here tomorrow!  This is my last sneak peek of the week!  Can you believe that I posted something every day?  Yeah, me either.  I hope you all have enjoyed sneak peek week as much as I have!  I originally planned on using this sentiment with a poodle, but when I saw this little bird with a beret - I changed my mind.  In the booklet of Better Together, he is actually saying "Bonjour," but I just filled in the little word bubble with cream instead.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  Merry Christmas to all of you!

Another Sneak Peek: "Butterfly Kisses"

This is one of those cards that I know needed something else, but I couldn't figure out what.  Oh well, maybe it works perfectly just as it is!  Again, I paired an image from Better Together with one of the sentiments from the Scrappy Moms newest set - Designer's Choice!  I hope you aren't tired of seeing the two paired up - they really are made for one another.

Doesn't it look like that butterfly is going to give the flower a kiss?

I was inspired Momo's super cute Christmas Angel card to use my Martha Stewart Scoreboard to do some embossing on the front of the card.  I actually started off just embossing the outside, like Momo, but it still seemed like it needed something, so I ended up embossing vertical stripes all along the front.

I hope everyone is having a good week so far!  If Nicole feels up to it tonight, we are supposed to go have s'mores with Santa, while he reads The Night Before Christmas.  My fingers are crossed.

Another Sneak Peek: "You Complete Me"

Alright...this is my favorite card that I've made in awhile.  Not because it's complicated - it's actually super simple, but it makes me smile!  Have any of you ever said, "bread and butter," when you are holding hands with someone and then you have to let go for a minute?  When I was little, my Jama (that's what I called my maternal grandmother) and I would always say "bread and butter."  This adorable little image from Better Together immediately made me think of her.

Don't forget that you have until Midnight tonight - December 23, 2010 to submit your answers to our "Guess the Designer" contest!  You can submit them to scrappymoms.stamps@gmail.com.  To order this set or any of the Scrappy Moms sets visit their website HERE!

Here's another look at the stamps and our design team - complete with links to their blogs!  Make sure sure to check out all of the AMAZING projects that everyone has come up with so far this week!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Good luck with the contest!!!
Also...Santa was a bust.  Nicole was all talk...she took one look at him and jumped into my arms and hid her face.  She did eventually whisper what she wanted to him, but no picture.  :(  Oh well...I guess that's one less picture for me to scrap.  Another plus, that is the first time she has left the house since having her tonsils out, so I think we are finally turning a corner.  Now if she'll just start eating again, my little string bean will gain a bit of weight back.

Scrappy Moms' Sneak Peek: "Hola Chica"

Have I mentioned lately how much I love this stamp set?  I love all of the Scrappy Moms stamps equally, but I am having so much fun playing with this set!  I normally don't use black in my projects very much, but I always love pink and black together - such a girly combination.  I also think that the Better Together cartridge may be my favorite so far of the Imagine releases.  There is so much to choose from!

Here's another look at the newest Scrappy Moms Stamp set - Designer's Choice!

Don't forget that we still have the "Guess the Designer" contest going on right now!  You have until Midnight December 23, 2010 to submit your answers to scrappymoms.stamps@gmail.com.

Thanks for stopping by!  Can you believe that Christmas is only a few days away?  Where has December gone?  Heck, where has this year gone?  We are taking Nicole to see Santa this evening.  She's talking a big game about how she is going give him a big hug and a kiss.  I think she wants to butter him up before she lays out her Christmas list.  She wants a dollhouse and a Princess Barbie.  We'll see how she does once she actually sees him.

Homemade Christmas Blog Hop Winner!

Thank you to everyone that "hopped" along with us over the weekend!  Another big thank-you to Cristina for coordinating the hop - there were so fabulous projects!

Congratulations to lucky commenter #67

CA Scrapper wins the Simple Sentiments set from Scrappy Moms!

Sneak Peek: "Kick up your Heels"

I'm back today with another sneak peek at the newest set from Scrappy Moms - Designer's Choice!  I purchased the Imagine cartridge Better Together last month, but the cartridge was defective.  Provo Craft sent me a new one, but it didn't get here until Friday night.  I was so excited to finally be able to play around with it on Saturday afternoon.  There are LOTS of cute images that coordinate perfectly with this stamp set.  (You will see...I think I made 5 cards with it.)

Don't forget that the "Guess the Designer" contest is still going on!  You have until midnight December 23, 2010 to submit your guesses to scrappymoms.stamps@gmail.com.  I don't know about you, but I am seriously stumped.

I forgot to jot down the sizes for this card...that is one kind of bad thing about designing projects with the Imagine.  I am going to try and be better about keeping a pad of paper next to it, so I can pass along the sizes to you!  The little circus performer and the scalloped mat are both from Better Together.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the Scrappy Moms Design Team's projects!  You can find them on the Scrappy Moms' site and on their blogs:

Hope you are having a wonderful Monday!
I will be posting the winner from the Homemade Christmas Blog Hop a little later today!

Scrappy Moms' Sneak Peek Week!!!

Homemade Blog Hop Post can be found HERE

Hooray!  It's that time again...Scrappy Moms' Sneak Peek Week! I have been having so much fun playing with these stamps - I love them!  The new set is called Designer's Choice.  Each member of the design team got to submit ideas and Melanie and Tammy worked their magic to create this adorable set!  Can you guess which stamps go with which designer?  Keep reading for information on a really fun contest.

We are having a "Guess that Designer" contest - the winner will recieve a Scrappy Moms Stamp set of his or her choice.  Email your guesses to scrappymoms.stamps@gmail.com by midnight Dec 23, 2010.  Whoever has the most correct will win; if there is a tie we will use Random.org to chose a winner!  Here is a list of the Design Team Members - everyone below has at least one sentiment to their name.

Do you have any guesses?  I am having a lot of fun trying to match the sentiment to the designer...I can't wait to see the answers!

Check back all week!  If you can believe it, I was actually able to get some crafting done on Saturday - so that means projects ALL week!  Woohoo!

Thanks for all of your well wishes for Nicole.  She is starting to feel better, but is still not back to her normal self.  I thought for sure that she would feel completely better by now, but I guess that may have been wishful thinking on my part.  I'm so glad that I finished my blog hop project (including the video) before her surgery.  Normally I tend to procrastinate a bit...maybe I've turned a corner.  ;)

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Homemade Christmas Blog Hop!

Homemade Christmas Blog Hop

Welcome!  If you arrived here from Ivette's blog, All About Me and My Scrapbook, you are in the right spot!  (If you're a little lost, don't worry - I have the entire blog hop list posted towards the end of this post.

I have wanted to make the 3D Village from Winter Woodland, ever since I first bought my Cricut.  For some reason, I didn't get around to it last year, but I am SOOO happy I finally did because this is one of my most favorite projects I've ever made with my Cricut.  Because it's getting soo close to Christmas, I sized everything so that you will be able to use regular 12 x 12 cardstock (who wants to go hunt down 12 x 24 paper???) and other supplies that you probably have around your house.  I have my little village in my dining room.  I arranged them on a pretty cake plate and sprinkled some fake snow around the houses.  Next year I think I may want to try find some old fashioned bottle-brush trees to mix in with the houses.

The video is kind of long, but I tried to show a little bit of every step!  I hope that you will try it out!

Materials Used:
  • Cardstock (nothing bigger than 12 x 12)
  • Sakura Gelly Roll Pen - White
  • Adhesives...there's a lot
    • ATG Gun (double stick tape will work just as well)
    • All Purpose Gell Adhesive
    • Terrifically Tacky 1/4" Tape
    • Glue Dots (to attach the wreaths and swags)
  • Martha Stewart Glitter - Crystal Fine
  • Stickles - Frosted Lace combined with Martha Stewart Tinsel Glitter - Crystal (This is for the "snow drifts" on the rooftops.  If you don't combine the two, the tinsel glitter doesn't really show up.)
  • Pipe Cleaners - the swags can be made using basically the same technique that I demonstrate for the wreaths.  Bend the pipe cleaner into the shape of a swag and wrap the pipe cleaner around itself until you get the desired fullness.
  • Adhesive Gems
  • Thread (for the teeny tiny bows)
  • 1-story house: sized at 4"
  • Church: sized at 4"
  • Two-story house: sized at 5.25
