Scrappy Moms Terrific Tuesday Challenge!

Today marks the start of another Scrappy Moms Terrific Tuesday Challenge!  The challenge this week is to create a project using a cut from the Mini Monsters Cricut cartridge.  As always...if you don't have that cartridge, you can use a similar die cut image.  I don't have Mini Monsters, so I chose a little witch from the Silhouette online store.  I paired her with a new sentiment from the Bewitched set from Scrappy Moms!
You can link up your project HERE on the Scrappy Moms Stamps site!

Hope you are having a fabulous Tuesday so far!  I love Tuesdays right now.  My daughter goes to preschool Tuesdays and Thursdays for three hours, and I am able to get soo much done in three hours.  She loves school and is already asking to go more often, so I don't feel too guilty about enjoying a little time alone.  Last Thursday I was able to dust and vacuum the whole house, decorate for fall, do three loads of laundry, and I prepped dinner.  It is crazy!  I am hoping to eventually start squeezing in some craft time too, but for right now I'm still trying to figure out a good schedule.  I have to start fitting in some time for some sort of exercise (ugh)...don't get me wrong, I am sure there is time in my day...I just need to make it a priority.  I know the blog has been a bit blah and slow lately, but I promise I am trying.  Just try and be patient with me!  Thank you so much for the sweet comments!  Some of you have been visiting from the very beginning and it means so much that you've kept coming back to see my projects!  To any newer readers - welcome and I hope you keep visiting!

EAD Monday Hop - Garden Friends

Happy Monday!  I hope you are hopping along with the EAD Designs Design Team this morning!  If you arrived here from the super sweet and talented Joanna's blog, Scrap-Making, then you are in the right spot.  If not, make sure to head back to the EAD Designs blog so you won't miss out on a single project!
I used the brand new Garden Friends Rub-Ons to jazz up a simple gable box.  I actually broadened my horizons and used pink instead of boring old black...so cute!  Did you know that you order all of the EAD Designs Rub-ons in a rainbow of colors?  Well...you can!

I am the last stop on today's hop!  Have a great day!

I have a couple of quick and easy print and cut projects that I whipped up yesterday afternoon using one of my favorite children's book characters - Olivia.  If you're not familiar with her, she is a super spunky, funny, and extra dramatic pig with a big imagination.  She cracks me up and I always keep a few of Olivia cartoons on our DVR...because it's so much more watchable (probably less educational) than say, Dora.
I made a two more little mini-composition books.  I love having paper handy, when I am running errands.    It provides an instant activity for impatient little ones.  Nicole thinks she is very grown up if she has her own notepad and pen to make lists just like mommy, and I love when she is so easily pleased!  I decided that Olivia's outfits needed a little sparkle, so added some extra fine glitter to all of her outfits...I'm sure Olivia would approve.
If you can believe it, I used the brand new Game Day stamp set from Scrappy Moms.  I know...see how versatile they are?  Here's another peek - just in case you haven't seen them yet!
Game Day
Hope you are having a great day!  Today is Nicole's very first school picture day.  We curled her hair with hot rollers (per her request), and then I watched the beautiful curls practically disappear by the time we left the house.  Let's hope they have pictures before recess.  :)

SMS Sneak Peek: Game On!....Car.

***If you are looking for the Scrappy Moms Halloween Hop, click HERE!***
For the five or so people that get the title of this post...this is for you.  For everyone else...sorry.  I know it is a pretty basic...kind of boring card, BUT if it makes you think of the scene from Wayne's World, then it's worth it.  You're welcome.  While I worked on this card, I watched some of my favorite Wayne's World clips and laughed out loud...by myself...in my craft room.  (Gun rack, anyone?)

Make sure to check out the newest Scrappy Moms Stamps releases - Bewitched and Game Day!  I used Game Day for my project today.

That's it for today...short and sweet.  Party on!

So...this was cuter in my head.  Don't you hate when that happens?  It's still alright...I guess.  I think I'll end up putting it on our entry table once it gets a little closer to Halloween.  I may make a few tweaks to it before then...if I do, I post some updated pictures.
Yes, all my glitter is still wet in this picture...and yes, that implies I waited till the last minute.

SMS Terrific Tuesday Challenge!!!

Happy Tuesday!  It's the start of another Scrappy Moms Terrific Tuesday Challenge!  The challenge this week is to create a *new* project using the Country Life Cricut cartridge. As always, if you don't have that cartridge, you can still play along by using a similar cut.  I don't have Country Life, so I browsed the digital booklet (you can find it HERE) to get some ideas.  As soon as I saw the needle and thread, it reminded me that I had planned on making this card during the sneak peek week for Quirky Quotes, but somehow never got around to it.  I am still trying to broaden my card horizons and I used THIS sketch for today's card!
Quirky Quotes
Here's the inside of the card:
Normally I don't decorate the inside of my cards, but I had some scraps left over and decided I should put them to good use.

I hope you can play along with us!

There will be TWO brand new sets of Scrappy Moms Stamps debuting this Friday, September 16th!  Get ready for a week of projects...plus a Scrappy Moms Halloween Blog Hop on Saturday the 17th!

EAD Monday Hop: Trick or Treat

Happy Monday!  I hope you are hopping along with the EAD Design Team today.  If you arrived here from Joanna's blog, Scrap-Making, you are in the right spot.  If not, make sure to head back to the EAD Designs Blog, so you won't miss out on this week's giveaway.  As always to be eligible, you need to leave a comment at each blog along the way (including the EAD Designs blog).
This month's EAD Designs Color Challenge started last week, and I wanted to make another card to go along with this month's color palate.
You can link up your project HERE!

If you stopped by last Thursday, I told you my daughter wanted to be a witch for Halloween (a plain witch...no pink, no purple - only black).  Well, I didn't take into account that three year olds change their mind constantly.  Since last week, she has told me she wants to be Alice in Wonderland, Little Red Riding Hood, a Mermaid, or maybe a nice witch.  I already know that whatever she chooses will ultimately change once Halloween gets here.  ;)
These super cute Kawaii Halloween Stickers are on sale right now.  I love Kawaii anything, and these are especially adorable.
Kawaii Halloween
Your next stop on today's hop is the very talented

Tomorrow is the debut of a brand some brand new images from EAD Designs and Soft Pencil...make sure to stop by to check them out - they are so stinkin' cute!

Fall Wreath

I love fall, which is funny considering that I live in a place where we don't typically have fall...more like a cooler summer.  I still decorate the house with a few fall items.  I have a plain jane pepper berry wreath that I have used on the front door for the past couple of years for fall, but when I got it out the other day, I noticed it was kind of falling apart.  I have been seeing yarn wreaths all over Pinterest for a few weeks, and after seeing the sad state of my stand-by wreath - I finally broke down to make my own.

This was so easy to make and I LOVE how it turned out.  (I never normally feel that way about any crafty project - normally I always think I could have done something a little differently.)  I'm already thinking about doing something similar for Christmas.
I wish I would have realized how easy it is to make felt flowers sooner - love them.  Now I'm thinking I should really invest in some flower dies for my Cuttlebug.
I didn't take any step by step pictures because I wasn't sure it was going to be worth posting about.  :/  Sorry.  I bought everything at Joann's.  Their fall floral items were on sale for 30% off, and a lot of their yarn was on sale too.  The wreath I saw on Pinterest sells for $40, so all in all - this turned out much cheaper.  It would have been even cheaper if I had remembered my coupon for the ribbon I used to hang it.  I have plenty of yarn left to make another wreath (just in the opposite color scheme - brown with green).

Hot Glue Gun/Scissors
14" Straw Wreath $2.99
(3) Acorn Picks $1.19/each
Pepper berry Pick $1.19
Green Yarn $2.99
Brown (Multi-colored) Yarn $3.99
Brown Ribbon $6.99
(5) Sheets of 9 x 12 Felt $.34/each
Total: $22.23

Tutorial Links

  • Do NOT take the plastic off of the straw wreath - it would make a huge mess, and I think you would end up with little bits of straw peeking through.
  • Felt Mums - to make the larger mums I used two strips of 1 x 12 felt.  To ensure I had even strips - I used my rotary cutter and a ruler.  I tried to use my Martha Stewart fringe scissors, but they didn't cut through the felt that well.  It may work if you've never cut paper with them, since paper dulls your scissors.
  • I attached the acorn picks and the pepper berry pieces FIRST and then added the flowers.
If you have any questions, let me know!  Hope you have a great weekend!
