A post about not posting...

So...by now I think I've established that Lauren and pregnancy do not get along.  Here are a few things that I've been up to...unfortunately none of which involve new projects.
My feet minus bones.  Ok...there are bones in there, somewhere underneath all of the swelling.  Normally I wear a 6 1/2, but since my feet decided to double in size - I broke down and bought a pair of cheap flats in an 8 1/2.  For real...sad times.  So...two days after I took this picture while sitting on our patio watching my little munchkin play on her swing set, my doctor put me on bed rest.  I knew it was more than likely coming, but I was still hopeful that I would be able to avoid it for a bit longer.
First I did a lot of crosswords, which tended to be geared for a slightly older demographic.  (I learned that I'm not so knowledgable about Gunsmoke or big bands from the 40's.)  I balanced crosswords out with some mind numbing television.  There may have also been a lot of tears mixed in with all of the crosswords and TV...maybe even a full blown pity party.
Last week I got super ambitious and did a bit of crafting for my daughter's class party.
I got stuck bringing veggies to her preschool Thanksgiving feast, so I decided to make them as cute as possible.  I just taped the little turkey bodies to a small plastic cups, added some ranch dressing to the cups and then the cut up veggies became the turkeys' tail feathers.  My mom cut up the veggies for me, so they were super easy to put together.

I hate posting about why I'm not posting, but I didn't want anyone to think I had just disappeared.  Right now I'm just taking things day by day. I am still seeing my doctor weekly, so she can monitor me and the baby.  So far my sweet baby boy is doing well, and all of this resting IS paying off.  My swelling is way down and my blood pressure is finally responding to the medication.

I hope all of you have a lovely Thanksgiving!

Peachy Keen Release Party!

Happy Monday crafty friends!  I hope you have a chance to join Peachy Keen Stamps for this month's release party over on the Peachy Keen Connection.  It's happening RIGHT now! (6p CST, Nov 5th)  There will be lots of chatting AND challenges!  Plus, there is an awesome sale this week with a super cute new free stamp set with purchase!

I am hosting one of the challenges this month!  All you need to do is create a tag with a Christmas or winter theme!  (I'll add the direct link as soon as it's up.)
I LOVE Christmas...in sort of a Clark Griswold sort of way.  I love everything about it - including wrapping presents, so this year I decided to make a few special tags for few "special" people.  (In this case "special" people = someone in my immediate family OR someone who will appreciate it. i.e. my mom.)
How sweet is this little reindeer?  I added some little snowflakes from one of the add-on sets and LOTS of glitter and sparkle.
I did a little bit of paper piecing for this little skating snowman.  So fun!  If you've only ever tried Peachy Keen's face stamps, but have been wanting to try some of the image stamps - this add-on set would be a great way to start.  Snowmen are so easy to color...you don't really "have" to do anything other than color in his little carrot nose, but it's fun to experiment with a bit of shading or paper piecing.
I added a little crystal fine clear glitter to my snowman's hat and his ice skates.  I like that you can still see the little bit of shading that I added through the glitter.
Hmmm...another snowman.  I think he turned out super cute as well.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  Don't forget that EVEN if you miss the actual release party - you still have time to play along with the challenges for a chance to win some fun prizes.  Also - make sure to check out the sale this week!

Quick Update:
Thank you to everyone that left such sweet and encouraging comments for me and the baby.  I just met with a specialist today who will be working with my normal doctor to coordinate the best possible care for us.  Right now that means lots of appointments and monitoring, but the upside is that I've gotten a LOT of sonograms this time around (and more to come).  The baby even smiled for my doctor last week, which was such a huge lift.  The specialist is NOT recommending bed rest at this point - so evidently some of you must have been sending some happy thoughts my way. (I will begrudgingly stay in bed if that's what the doctor orders...don't worry about that!)  ;)

Peachy Keen Sneak Peeks Day 2!

Happy Saturday and happy day two of this month's Peachy Keen Sneak Peeks!  These new sets are adorable and are sure to get you in a Christmas-y winter kind of mood.  For this card, I used some stamps from this month's Stamp of the Month kit and some from one of the add-on sets.

I REALLY like the look of white ink and kraft paper together (get ready...you may be seeing a lot of it in the next few days).  Instead of inking with my normal brown ink, I used my white pigment ink.  I then added some little evergreens to create my background.  I inked them using my Versamark watermark ink and then heat embossed them with green embossing powder.  I added a little white glitter to their branches to create snow.  I used a combo of Copics and paper piecing for my little snowman.

Make sure to head over to the Peachy Keen Stamps blog to see LOTS more inspiration, and don't forget that Monday, November 5th is our Peachy Keen Release party over on the Peachy Keen Connection!  Hope you can join us!
